The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: After working 4 years on the East Coast, So. California beckoned. I worked in Municipal Recreation full-time for Arcadia, El Monte and Pomona, and as a substitute Supervisor in Azusa and Pico Rivera. Also, during this time, I married a Naval Aviator, gave birth to twins - James and Beth, and joined the Glendale Chapter of AAUW. After holding several offices, I helped start a Women's Resource Center they sponsored. We happily came East to Virginia in 1980, and the City of Falls Church hired me to start a Senior Citizens' Center. Although I "retired" in 1997, I am starting my 23rd year with the Northern Virginia Senior Olympic Committee (First, as the City's Representative, and since '97, as a volunteer officer and worker). With the volunteer jobs, visits to my Montrose, PA home and managing a rental cottage on the Rappahannock River, life is busy and fun. My 4 grandchildren are, of course, terrific, and we enjoy watching them grow and learn. Maybe Penn State is in their future! Penn State certainly helped prepare me for my jobs and life! |
